“KTR Alleges Major Land Scam Behind Scrapping of Hyderabad Pharma City Project”

BRS working president KT Rama Rao has alleged a massive land scam linked to the Congress-led State government’s proposal to cancel the Hyderabad Pharma City project. He accused the government of misleading both the public and the judiciary by providing conflicting statements regarding the project’s status. According to KTR, while the government claims the project is cancelled, they maintain in court that it remains operational. He further pointed out that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brothers stand to benefit from the land repurposing, which could be worth thousands of crores. KTR questioned the feasibility of alternative projects, such as Future City and AI City, highlighting that no new land had been acquired for these. Emphasizing the conditional nature of the 14,000-acre land acquisition for Pharma City, he warned against repurposing it for corrupt deals, insisting that the land must be returned to farmers if the project is scrapped, and demanded clarity in court.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao has raised serious allegations of a massive land scam, potentially worth thousands of crores, tied to the Congress-led State government’s handling of the Hyderabad Pharma City project. Speaking just days after he exposed irregularities in the AMRUT 2.0 contracts, KTR accused the government of misleading not only the public but also the judiciary regarding the status of Pharma City, a flagship project initiated during the previous BRS regime.

According to KTR, the Congress government has been making contradictory claims about the project. “On one hand, they claim Pharma City is cancelled, but in the High Court, they say it hasn’t been cancelled. How can they mislead the judiciary like this?” he asked, highlighting the apparent deception in the government’s statements. He warned that such attempts to mislead both the people and the judiciary would face serious consequences in both the courts and the public arena.

KTR alleged that the real motive behind the proposed cancellation of Pharma City was a conspiracy to benefit Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s brothers, who stand to gain billions of rupees through questionable land deals. The Pharma City project, which was originally proposed by the BRS government, involved the acquisition of 14,000 acres and an estimated investment of Rs 64,000 crore. “There’s a massive land scam behind this proposed cancellation, and we will soon reveal all the details,” he said.

He questioned the feasibility of the Congress government’s alternative projects, such as Future City, AI City, and Fourth City. “Revanth Reddy is talking about Future City, AI City, and even a Fourth City. But has he acquired even an acre of land for these projects? How can he repurpose Pharma City lands without acquiring new land?” KTR questioned, challenging the government’s ability to deliver on its promises without proper planning or land acquisition.

KTR emphasized that the land for Pharma City was acquired under conditional acquisition, meaning it was designated specifically for industrial development. Any attempt to repurpose this land for other projects, without legal provisions, would not only violate the terms of the acquisition but also spark severe legal and political repercussions. “The land acquired for Pharma City cannot simply be repurposed for other projects. If Pharma City is cancelled, the government must return the land to the farmers who gave it up for industrial development,” KTR asserted.

He further warned that any attempts by the State government to divert or misuse the land could lead to serious consequences. “The people of Telangana will not allow the Congress government to play around with this land for corrupt deals. If they continue their deceptive tactics, the consequences will be severe—not only in the courts but also in the people’s court,” he cautioned, indicating potential large-scale protests or legal action.

KTR also addressed the larger implications of cancelling the Hyderabad Pharma City project, emphasizing that scrapping such a critical project would be disastrous for Telangana’s industrial growth. “The cancellation of Pharma City would be a huge blow to the industrial progress of Telangana. Thousands of job opportunities would be lost, and it would severely damage investor confidence in the State,” he warned, adding that the project was key to Telangana’s ambitions to become a global pharmaceutical hub.

Highlighting the scale and significance of the original project, KTR said that Pharma City was not just a local initiative but a landmark industrial project aimed at transforming Telangana’s economic landscape. “Pharma City is not just any project—it’s the largest of its kind in the world. We had envisioned it as a global hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, attracting investments from all over the world. Cancelling this would set back our industrial progress by decades,” he said, urging the Congress government to reconsider its decision.

KTR also raised concerns about the impact of the potential cancellation on the livelihood of farmers who had sacrificed their land for the project. “The land that was given by farmers for the sake of Telangana’s industrial growth should not be used for corrupt land deals. If the government cancels the project, it must return the land to the farmers immediately,” he said, calling on the government to honor its commitments to the people who had invested their hopes in Pharma City.

As the State government prepares to present its final stand on the Pharma City issue in the High Court, KTR insisted that the government provide clarity on whether the project was still operational or if it had indeed been scrapped. “The government must clarify its stand in the High Court tomorrow. Is Pharma City still operational or not? The people deserve to know the truth,” he demanded.

The BRS leader said his party would closely monitor the government’s actions and statements in court, and that the BRS would discuss its future course of action after consultations with party leaders and affected farmers. “We will not let this issue go unchallenged. After discussions with our party leaders and the farmers, we will decide on our next steps,” KTR declared, signaling the potential for further political escalation.

In conclusion, KTR called upon the Congress government to abandon what he described as “corrupt schemes” and instead focus on continuing the original Pharma City project, which he said was critical for the State’s development. “Telangana’s future lies in projects like Pharma City, not in shady land deals. We urge the government to drop these corrupt schemes and stick to the original plan, which will benefit the people and the State as a whole,” he said, reiterating his party’s commitment to ensuring the project’s success and protecting the interests of Telangana’s citizens.
