Vignesh Velappan Honored with GTH Alumni Excellency Award 2024
Vignesh Velappan has been awarded as the recipient of the prestigious “GTH Alumni Excellency Award 2024” at the esteemed Glocal Teen Hero (GTH) Nepal Award Gala Night Ceremony. This distinguished accolade was presented by Smt. Indira Rana Magar, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal, and Shri. Ranjit Acharya, CEO of Prisma Advertising.
Vignesh’s remarkable journey with Glocal began as a finalist at GTH India 2022, where his innovative spirit and dedication were first recognized. His contributions and achievements since then have culminated in this honor, marking him as the standout alumnus from the global GTH community for this year.
The GTH Alumni Excellency Award is a singular recognition bestowed upon one exceptional member from the entire alumni network worldwide. This accolade not only acknowledges Vignesh’s outstanding achievements but also includes a cash prize of 50,000 NPR.

Born and raised in Oman, Vignesh’s transformative journey began when he moved to India in the 8th grade to pursue his education. His unwavering passion for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been a driving force throughout his life, compelling him to effect positive change in society.
Currently a student of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Vignesh balances academic excellence with an impressive extracurricular portfolio. His leadership journey includes roles such as a school pupil leader and the founder of the Seyal Foundation, a youth-run organization that has made significant strides under his stewardship.
The Seyal Foundation, established by Vignesh, has achieved remarkable milestones over the past year and a half:
Six National Titles: For its exceptional service and impactful initiatives.
Support for Over 13,000 Families: Providing assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Educational Sponsorship for 28 Students: Ensuring continued education for those in need.
Management of 48 Orphanages: Offering care to homeless and mentally affected individuals.
In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Vignesh serves as a state representative at the Global Youth Development Empowering Council (GYDEC), where he shares his experiences and inspires fellow youth. His work with the Seyal Foundation has established it as a leading youth-run organization in India.
Vignesh is also a distinguished orator, having delivered five TED talks that have reached and inspired over 2,000 young people. His participation in debates, motivational sessions, and Model United Nations further underscores his commitment to leadership and advocacy.
